21 Reasons

JAMAICA

January 13 – 19, 2009

Because Rose Hall is one of the most beautiful resorts in the Caribbean. Nomads might remember this resort from our New Year’s trip a few years ago. It was a nice resort then, but it is simply fabulous now. In 2008 a multi-million dollar renovation was completed and Nomads will be some of the first guests to experience the spacious ocean view rooms, amazing water park and wonderful cuisine of this newest Jamaican jewel. P.S. It is all-inclusive!

GALAPAGOS Cruise

January 24 – 31, 2009

Because nobody else can get you to Galapagos on a direct flight from Detroit. Certainly nobody knows Galapagos better than our longtime partner, Lindblad Expeditions. Their naturalist will help you understand and admire the fauna and flora of these “paradise islands”. P.S. This trip is already confirmed.

PUNTA CANA

February 2 – 8, 2009

Because Nomads love the Paradisius Palma Real in Punta Cana. This resort received 100% “excellent” ratings by Nomads in 2007 and we were asked to put it back on the schedule as quickly as we could. What Nomads want, Nomads get! Make sure you sign up quickly or you will have to wait until at least 2011 to experience the comfort of this all-inclusive resort.

SOUTH AMERICAN ODYSSEY CRUISE

March 7 – 27, 2009

Because it would be almost impossible to design a more complete tour of South America. You will be amazed by changing landscapes and cultures. From the Chilean fjords to an Argentinean tango and a sexy Brazilian samba, Nomads will experience as much or as little as you desire while being pampered by the crew of Oceania Cruises. P.S. Oceania service ranks among the highest of all cruise lines.

SOUTHEAST ASIA

March 18 – April 4, 2009

Because you’ll see it aboard the legendary Eastern & Oriental Express train. If someone wanted the perfect combination of old world charm and modern comfort he would probably think of Orient-Express trains. Nomads will spend five nights aboard the train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok and then on to Singapore. We’ll also visit the beautiful temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. P.S. This trip will be flown on a commercial airline.

PORTUGAL

March 29 – April 7, 2009

Because this is a perfect trip for a first time or repeat visitor to Portugal. We will visit Oporto and Lisbon (the major cities of Portugal), taste Port wines, and attend a Fado concert. First time visitors will wonder at the UNESCO World Heritage City of Oporto while repeat visitors might experience its culture in depth. Nomads will also explore the picturesque coast of the Algarve region in the south of the country. P.S. We will be staying at the Four Season Ritz Hotel in Lisbon.

NEW YORK CITY

April 9 – 13, 2009 (Easter)

Because it is fun to hunt for Easter eggs in Central Park. New York is great at any time of the year, but Spring has that special feeling in the Big Apple. The trees are blooming, people are nicer, and you can always count on a smiling cab driver… yeah, right, who are we kidding? It is NYC. Regardless, Nomads trips to New York always sell out quickly as there are so many things to do. There’s shopping, shows, museums, restaurants…take your pick.

DRESDEN – PRAGUE – BUDAPEST

April 29 – May 10, 2009

Because history calls. Every city in Europe has its tales and secrets. This Spring Nomads will dive into the stories of Dresden and its Zwinger Palace. We will learn about precious china in Meissen. We will listen to the stories of Hradcany Castle in Prague and the Fisherman’s Bastion in Budapest. In true Nomads fashion we will dine at exquisite restaurants and stay at landmark hotels with enough time on our own to make this trip a “perfect story”. P.S. We will be staying at the Kempinski Hotel in Dresden.

QUEBEC CITY

May 22 – 25, 2009 (Memorial Day)

Because it is always nice to visit Canada during a holiday weekend. Shops and attractions are open, business is booming, and we’ll be there! In historic Quebec City we will make the magnificent Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac Resort our home away from home. Staying at a wonderful hotel in the city center and enjoying the European ambience of the area should make this holiday getaway just perfect for Nomads.

MAGNIFICENT EUROPE

AMSTERDAM TO BUDAPEST RIVER CRUISE

May 30 – June 14, 2009 Because the most convenient way to see Europe is from the river. The secret of seeing six countries in two weeks and unpacking only once is this grand European cruise aboard the Avalon Poetry. Imagine looking out your cabin balcony or window at the changing landscapes, quaint villages and hilltop castles. Imagine eating food from a different country every day, yet in the same restaurant. Imagine going to sleep and waking up in a different city every morning. Imagine relaxing on a sun deck while viewing Melk Abbey high on the hill above. P.S. Sign up quickly or this trip will happen only in your imagination—it has always sold out upon first offering.

MT. RUSHMORE

July 2 – 5, 2009 (4th of July)

Because everyone should see fireworks behind Mount Rushmore National Monument at least once in his lifetime. This is a true American classic and a trip that has always been very popular with Nomads. It is a splendid opportunity to celebrate our nation’s birthday with your family and Nomads friends.

GLACIER NATIONAL PARK

July 7 – 13, 2009

Because it is family time. Every year when school is out we design a trip for the entire family—a place that is perfect to share with your kids or grandkids. We also make sure that we visit a few of our national parks every year. Glacier National Park fulfills both aims: Nomads will stay at the historic hotels in the Park and experience the famous “Red Jammer” tours. P.S. We’ll also visit Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada.

CRYSTAL MEDITERANEAN CRUISE

July 15 – 28, 2009

Because it is a Crystal Cruise. After so many years in partnership with Crystal Cruises we probably cannot tell you anything more about their unparalleled service and delectable food. We cannot tell you anything more about their luxurious ships and spacious cabins. We can, however, tell you that you will be able to see the Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona, Monte Carlo’s Casino, David by Michelangelo in Florence, the Spanish Steps in Rome, Vatican City, the Amalfi Coast, Dubrovnik, and St. Mark’s Square in Venice… all of them during this wonderful cruise. P.S. This sailing’s theme is “Wine & Food Festival”.

BALTICS AND KALININGRAD

August 11 – 23, 2009

Because Nomads have never traveled to Kaliningrad before. We will explore this small part of Russia which is surrounded by the Baltic countries before we continue on to the capital cities of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. As always when traveling in Europe, Nomads will learn about countries which are close to each other on the map, yet so different when it comes to language, culture and tradition.

RIVER RAFTING OR COEUR D’ALENE

September 2 – 7, 2009 (Labor Day)

Because it is all about choices. Nomads will have two options to choose from when it comes to spending their Labor Day vacations. Relax at the upscale Coeur D’Alene resort set beautifully on the shores of the lake and offering all amenities required for a rejuvenating stay. If you are more adventurous you can spend a few days rafting down the Snake River through Hell’s Canyon. Which is the right choice for you? P.S. Availability for the rafting trip will be limited.

LONDON AND THE ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE

September 18 – 27, 2009

Because you can never get enough of London. So many things to see and so little time—this is usually the dilemma one has while in London. Nomads will enjoy four nights there, which is ample free time for personal exploration. After this relaxing stay in the capital city of the United Kingdom, we will travel to the medieval town of Bath for another four night sojourn. From here we can explore the beaches and the Cotswold countryside on day trips and return to our hotel at night. On this trip you will unpack only twice!

TOURS, BORDEAUX & CARCASSONE

October 7 – 17, 2009

Because France has so much to offer. Here’s your chance to take ‘the road less traveled by’. We’ll explore parts of France that are not on the usual travel itineraries and when you return you will wonder why they’re not. The city of Tours offers opportunities to explore the Loire Valley and its castles. Bordeaux is known for its wines and Carcassone’s stunning medieval architecture will take your breath away. P.S. In Carcassone we will stay at Hotel de la Cite, which is managed by Orient-Express.

SOUTH AFRICA, NAMIBIA & BOTSWANA

October 27 – November 11, 2009

Because you can once again fly on a Convair airplane. For some Nomads a portion of this trip will have special meaning. In addition to a splendid train ride on ROVOS from Pretoria to Cape Town and exciting safaris in Namibia and Botswana, we will truly travel back in time. Nomads will fly from Capetown to Namibia and Botswana aboard a Convair 440 airplane built in 1954 and fully restored in 2001. (Nomads owned a Convair 990A from 1975-1979.) P.S. This trip will be via commercial airline.

MID ATLANTIC INLAND PASSAGE CRUISE

October 31 – November 7, 2009

Because there is still so much to discover in the United States. Have you ever traveled the Intercoastal Waterway? One of the most picturesque parts of this waterway leads from Baltimore across Chesapeake Bay and on through protected intercoastal passages to Charleston. Nomads will spend a relaxing week on board MS American Star. This modern vessel accommodates only one hundred passengers, so Nomads will be able to enjoy personalized service while discovering the beauty of our homeland. P.S. We’ll also stop at Norfolk, VA, Oriental, NC, Morehead City, NC, Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC.

HAWAII

November 20 – 29, 2009 (Thanksgiving)

Because it does not snow below 9,000 feet in Hawaii. This trip will be a wonderful opportunity to share the holiday with your family around a Thanksgiving table that could be set on a pristine sandy beach. Nomads will whisk you away from cold weather and short days to visit both Maui and the Big Island with enough time on each to relax and explore.

VIENNA

THE IMPERIAL BALL AT THE HOFBURG PALACE

December 27, 2009 – January 3, 2010 (New Year’s)

Because every woman wants to dance the night away. How special would it be to celebrate the New Year at one of the most prestigious balls in Europe? Nomads will have that chance when we take our ‘flying clubhouse’ to Vienna for this magical event in the Hofburg Palace. A Viennese ballroom, tuxedos, white gloves and a feeling of royalty in the air—how special will it be to waltz into a new year? P.S. Ladies, don’t be surprised if we take a few dance hosts along...
